Description

Oversees and manages membership functions including volunteer program support, renewal billing, member communications, and database management. Also supports social media and other communication efforts in coordination with the Public Affairs Manager and meetings and events work in coordination with the Education Manager. Additional responsibilities include routine office management; liaising with landlord, office supplies purchasing, order fulfillment, and equipment maintenance. Successful candidates will have strong writing and communication skills and attention to detail with good analytical and interpersonal skills.

Membership Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a volunteer management program and tracking tool(s) in coordination with the Executive Director and Education Manager
  • Process annual membership invoicing, renewals, drops, and adds
  • Maintain member database, committee rosters, and communication subscriptions
  • Provide staff liaison support to the Membership Development committee
  • Coordinate Awards and volunteer recognition programs
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of Member Forums
  • Assist in planning and support to periodic and annual Membership meetings
  • Respond to inquiries and requests for assistance from Association members

 Communications & Marketing Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Public Affairs Manager to implement communication plan
  • Assist in the development, writing and distribution of CSDA publications
  • Assist in moderating CSDA’s online communities and social media accounts
  • Assists the Public Affairs Manager with grassroots advocacy efforts
  • Review and update website content as needed
  • Assist in a website redesign project (scheduled for 2021-2022)
  • Respond to consumer email inquiries and facilitate information sharing
  • Coordinate marketing efforts though mass media, social media, and private channels

 General Office

  • Participate in shared accounting tasks to maintain a Separation of Duties
  • Answer incoming calls, greet visitors, and process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Order office supplies and maintain equipment to support a productive environment
  • Fulfill publication and other store orders
  • Perform related tasks such as filing, and organization as required
  • Support other staff as needed and perform other duties as assigned


Requirements

Education: Bachelor degree from an accredited college (Master preferred) in an area related to the duties of the position - or an equivalent work experience. A degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Public Administration, or similar field of study. CAE designation a plus.

Experience: At least four (4) years’ experience within a member-based organization in membership, marketing, or communications. Experience with local government, association management principles, and advocacy is preferred. Experience with an association management system and WordPress or other website content management systems; email marketing platforms; and Adobe products and/or other desktop publishing software.

Knowledge and Skills

  • General office procedures, administrative and clerical functions, and equipment
  • Proficient writer with excellent grammar and editing in the English language
  • Basic knowledge of HTML
  • Proficiency with social media (i.e. Twitter) and scheduling platforms (i.e. Hootsuite)
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proficiency with Adobe products including Adobe Acrobat
  • Understanding of marketing and communication principles

Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively with others in the performance of duties
  • Ability to read and edit written documents for clarity and conciseness
  • Ability to analyze and distill information into audience-specific content
  • Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment

Beginning Compensation: Position is exempt (salaried) with starting annual wage of $60,000 to $70,000 paid bi-weekly depending on experience and skill level.

Benefits: CSDA benefits for fulltime employees include medical and dental insurance; a 401K retirement plan; holidays, sick and vacation leave.

Working Conditions: Work site is a small, fourth-floor office with both stairs and elevator access. The office is in “Class A” complex in the South Natomas area of Sacramento, which includes free parking, a lobby coffee kiosk, and a complimentary workout facility. The association’s annual budget is about $1.2 million, and the total staffing is four full-time and one part-time employee. Occasional travel to education events is required up to 5 days at a time approximately three times a year. Other one- or two-day travel as required to perform duties of the job. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required for in-office work.
