Job Summary:

The Chapter Program Manager serves a key role as part of the staff and leadership team of the Chapter, and oversees, manages, organizes, administers, and directs all chapter operations, including the Chapter Board of Directors and finances, as well as numerous member volunteers, committees, meetings, events, membership activities, and office administration. This job is a home-based remote position that may require travel to CalCPA offices throughout the year and events/meetings in the chapter’s geographic area.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as a liaison between chapter members and CalCPA; cultivating two-way communication on issues, policies, and activities between CalCPA, chapter members, firms, governing bodies, and prospective members.
  • Directly supervise and administer all activities of Chapter governance and leadership team, including:
    • Serving as a member of Chapter Board and Committee leadership.
    • Overseeing Board and Committee governance, including bylaws, strategy, processes, and procedures, as well as overall effectiveness and accomplishments.
    • Effectively communicating and working with chapter leaders.
    • Leading chapter-specific strategy and implementation of goals/objectives.
    • Executing all chapter activities, events, meetings, and operations.
    • Managing collaboration between chapter and state activities, including membership growth and competency and learning expansion.
  • Proactive team player, working collaboratively with chapter members/volunteers, Programs staff, and other CalCPA departments to deliver services and execute on CalCPA goals and initiatives.
    • In collaboration with chapter leaders/committee members, Program Manager plans and executes chapter networking, social and educational events.
    • Identify and secure event sponsorships, as well as develop a comprehensive chapter sponsorship program.
    • In conjunction with the marketing department, responsible for chapter electronic and print marketing, promotion, and communications, including social media.
    • Participate in member development and other CalCPA initiatives, including local firm visits, Big4 new hire orientations, grassroots activities/legislator visits, Campus Ambassadors, Meet the Firms events, MC&L Conference cross-promotion, and member ongoing recruitment and renewal campaigns.
  • Identify and cultivate future leaders.

    • Build strong relationships with chapter members and local firms.
  • Manage, organize, oversee and administer the day-to-day chapter activities relative to financial, procedural, and operational matters.
    • Process AP & AR for the chapter.
    • Review and negotiate event/venue contracts.
    • Manage chapter financials, drive the annual chapter budgeting process with leadership and ensure that the monthly financial reports are accurate. Further analysis is required quarterly.
    • Manage chapter student scholarship program and manage Scholarship Committee.
  • Collaborate with other organizations to promote CalCPA.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill, and Experience:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. Bachelor’s degree and 3-7 years related work experience, or the equivalent. 
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and social media platforms and ability to work in a database environment.
  3. Demonstrated organizational, time, communication, management, and critical thinking skills; meeting planning and/or volunteer management experience a plus.
  4. Ability to operate home office technology and coordinate service maintenance as needed.
  5. Must be able to travel locally outside of regular working hours.
  6. Must be able to travel to CalCPA offices various times during the year for multi-day meetings.
