AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Financial Analysis and Strategic Assessment

•    Responsible for developing and then tracking the annual budgeting and forecasting with variance analysis.
•    Conducts any necessary financial assessments or projections for new projects or ventures.
•    Advises the Executive Director and Treasurer on financial matters and is able to answer questions from the Board of Directors; staffs the Board’s Finance and Audit, Investment, and other committees as directed; prepares materials as requested by the Executive Director and the Committees in accordance with this staffing assignment. This also includes preparing the annual budget and budgetary reports in conjunction with the Executive Director and Treasurer for presentation to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
•    Provides analytical support to all departments including rollout of new initiatives and analysis of key metrics for services.

Finance and Accounting Functions

•    Responsible for all accounting and financial related activities for the SDCBA in accordance with association policy including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger/journal entries, bank account monitoring and reconciliation, preparation of monthly financial statements and other reports; ensures accuracy and compliance with SDCBA policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
•    Manages and analyzes daily cash flow requirements to ensure the SDCBA’s multi- faceted operations are supported.
•    Manages the $3.8 million annual operating budget and real property assets.
•    Recommends, maintains and analyzes all internal accounting controls, processes and procedures.
•    Manages and is the point person for the association’s annual audit and annual tax return preparation; ensures the timely filing of all tax returns including, but not limited to sales, payroll, and retirement plan and corporate.
•    Manages and is the point person to the Association’s Investment Advisor ensuring compliance with the SDCBA’s Investment Policy Statement; oversees and tracks the management of the investment portfolio.
•    Ensures all physical assets are accounted for pursuant to the SDCBA’s asset management and depreciation policies.
•    Manages tax and legal issues related to the Association’s LLCs.

Finance Administration

•    Manages all SDCBA business contracts, including development and oversight.
•    Maintains the company’s commercial insurance and serves as the point person for insurance agents and claims.
•    Manage 2 LLC relationships, including leases and investments, and act as a Member of the Board’s LLC Working Group.
•    Develops and regularly monitors financial policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. 
•    Advises and makes recommendations to the Executive Director on all matters assigned and performs special projects and other duties as needed.
•    Provides information and resources to the Board of Directors as directed.
•    Directs and supervises the day to day work of the Finance Department team. This includes analyzing workflow, developing procedures, and providing ongoing training and skills assessment.



Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

 

·         BA in accounting or related field, Masters Degree and/or CPA preferred

·         5 -10 years’ experience directly managing the finances of a similar size organization; nonprofit accounting and finance highly desirable.

·         Senior-level business and financial management experience and acumen.

·         Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and require little or no supervision.

·         Strategic and hands-on approach to finance, accounting, and operations; adept at analysis, business planning, budget development, and forecasting.

·         Ability to learn quickly and adjust to changes in work environment.

·         Ability to handle big picture (macro) projects as well as detailed (micro) projects

·         Strong Microsoft Office, QuickBooks and other databases skills.

·         Strong oral and written communication skills.

·         Experience in employee development, staff coaching, and administering performance evaluations.

·         Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

·         Team player with strong interpersonal skills who enjoys working with others on a day-to-day basis.

·         Ability to work under pressure.

·         Comfortable with complex policies and procedures.

         Proficiency with technology including Zoom, MS Teams, Microsoft 365, and other information management software.
